  • 22nd Annual End of Year Celebration

    College Bound hosted its 22nd Annual End of Year Celebration on May 16, 2013 at the historic Lincoln Theater. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Set Sail for a World of Wonder: Preparing Our Students for a World of Opportunity”, which captured the essence of the road ahead for this year’s graduates. The evening opened with the processional of the Class of 2013.

  • College Bound Day of Service

    College Bound participated in the Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service on January 19th, 2013. We volunteered at Plummer Elementary School in SE and helped with beautification. We were able to clean out and reorganize several of their resource rooms.

  • Virtual Mentoring Winter Social

      To bring in the New Year College Bound hosted the Virtual Mentoring Program (VMP) Winter Social on January 3, 2013!. The VMP is an effort to offer continued support to the College Bound alumni who matriculate into college or university. A big part of the VMP is to create a community by offering support, communication, resources, and other needed information.

  • 21st Annual End of the Year Celebration

    College  Bound,  Inc. celebrated  its  21st  Annual  End  of  the  Year  Celebration on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Howard  University's  Blackburn Ballroom  with  over 500 supporters. The annual event recognizes students in College Bound's  Academic  Mentoring Program,  which has an outstanding rate of 100% high school completion   and 100% college  acceptance.

  • Taste of College Night

    College Bound held its annual Taste of College Night on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Howard University Blackburn Center. At this event, set up like a traditional college fair, four universities provided on-site admissions to students, five universities had recruiters that waived application fees, and 26 universities had alumni representation.   • Fall College Tour 2012

    The annual Fall College Tour took place on Monday, November 12, 2012 and students visited Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University. Before departing on the trip students were given booklets with basic information about the school and suggested questions for students to ask while on the campuses. The trip began with a campus tour in the morning at Old Dominion University.

  • Senior Retreat

    College Bound’s annual Senior Retreat was held from August 24-25, 2012 at the Embassy Suites in Downtown, DC. This retreat is an opportunity for students to get a jumpstart on their college application process and learn more about application specifics for the schools they intend to apply to. The retreat began with a welcome address from Kenneth Ward, Executive Director.

    The 7th Annual College Bound Golf Tournament kicked off Monday, June 18th at the beautiful River Creek Golf Club in Leesburg, Virginia. The participants consisted of College Bound board members, long term supporters, and College Bound friends. After opening remarks from the Executive Director Kenneth Ward, golfers began play with a shotgun start.

  • International Study Tour- Angel

    I'm really enjoying my time here in Ghana and today was an awesome day. One incredible difference that I observed was that most of the people here in Ghana work very hard and a lot of Americans don't have to work nearly as hard. We traveled to Bonwire where they make Kente clothe and it was an amazing site.

    Today was a wonderful experience in Kumasi, Ghana. We visited Bonwire, a village where they make Kente clothe and it was beautiful. I had the opportunity to help out with the weaving and learn how the fabric is created.

    College Bound’s Inaugural International study tour began Friday ,January 13, 2012 with six Student Ambassadors who will travel through the Netherlands to Ghana. This experience will allow College Bound students to start developing an international perspective prior to college. While on the trip, they will journal daily as well as blog about their excursion.

    IMPACT Day is Deloitte’s annual celebration of their long-term commitment to community involvement. On IMPACT Day, they encourage their 50,000+ employees across the country to set aside their work for the day to contribute their time and talent to benefit local nonprofits. This year the event was held on Friday, June 10th and for the second year in a row Deloitte collaborated with College Bound for College Exploration Day with local middle schools.

  • Hands on DC 2011

    On Saturday, April 30, 2011, College Bound students, partners, parents and staff participated in the 2011 Hands on DC Work-a-thon. College Bound's assigned service site was at Bunker Hill Elementary, a former stomping ground for some of our families. The volunteers at this site performed various renovation and beautification projects such as painting, mulching, and gardening .

    Congratulations to our Senior Class of 2009. This year we honored 30 graduates of our program at the End of Year Celebration in May. Ninety-Seven percent have since enrolled in college for the fall 2009.
