“College Bound.” Every parent, teacher, youth development worker, and guardian deserves the opportunity to speak these words of hope and ambition in reference to the high school student they have invested countless hours into.   But the reality is; we do not always get what we deserve, but that for which we work. College Bound is an organization dedicated to ensuring that the public school students in the Washington D.C. area are equipped with the academic and social tools and resources to one day be College Bound.

American Institute for Research Site Kickoff

College Bound is ecstatic to announce that our newest site, American Institute for Research (AIR), opened successfully on Thursday, January 26, 2012 with fifteen student-mentor pairs with more to be added next school year. Students, mentors and parents were excited as they were greeted by, Rita Kirshstein, Managing Director for AIR and Kenneth Ward, Executive Director for College Bound. After the welcome remarks, the pairs were announced and allow time to meet each other for the first time, initiating what we hope will be a lifelong relationship. College Bound would like to thank AIR for this great opportunity and for being a longtime supporter of the program. As College Bound grows, so does the chances that DC area students will graduate and matriculate into college.

Kicking off our 20th Year

College Bound’s 2011-2012 Academic Mentoring Program started on September 26, 2011 with an enrollment of over 150 students. We currently host our Academic Mentoring Program at five community-based sites: Beacon House, Black Entertainment Television (BET), Cesar Chavez Public Charter School for Public Policy and our flagship site now located at The Community College of the District of Columbia (CCDC). College Bound is thrilled to be collaborating with CCDC, an institution of higher learning that provides DC residents with the opportunity for a seamless transition to adult education and to four year colleges.
