“College Bound.” Every parent, teacher, youth development worker, and guardian deserves the opportunity to speak these words of hope and ambition in reference to the high school student they have invested countless hours into.   But the reality is; we do not always get what we deserve, but that for which we work. College Bound is an organization dedicated to ensuring that the public school students in the Washington D.C. area are equipped with the academic and social tools and resources to one day be College Bound.

Virtual Mentoring Winter Social

To bring in the New Year College Bound hosted the Virtual Mentoring Program (VMP) Winter Social on January 3, 2013!. The VMP is an effort to offer continued support to the College Bound alumni who matriculate into college or university. A big part of the VMP is to create a community by offering support, communication, resources, and other needed information. Mentorships play a huge role in this community but the community also extends to students knowing other students in the program and mentors knowing other mentors.

The night began by everyone gathering together and College Bound’s executive director, Kenneth Ward opened the discussion by welcoming students and mentors to the event. Mr. Ward offered words of encouragement to students about the importance of their college level academic work and how the College Bound community is available as a support system.
